Mandiba - Mr. Nelson Mandela

Rolihlahla Madiba Mandela, also known as Nelson Mandela, was born on 18 July 1918. He was the most important figure to fight against Apartheid in the South Africa.  He was considered by the  people the warrior in a fight for freedom.

Mandela was the first in his family to study in a school, where he got the "Nelson" in his name. When Mandela started college, he began work in a student movement against the university policy, when was kicked out of college.

During the 1960s, Mandela fought against the Apartheid and became the Commander of "Lança da Nação" that sought money from others countries to help in this war.

In 1964 Mandela was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. From 1964 to 1990 he was in jail, and became the symbol against the Apartheid all around the world. In 1990, the South African President Frederik de Klerk, ordered Mandela´s freedom. In 1993, Mandela and Frederik de Klerk won the Nobel Peace Prize.

In 1994 Mandela became the first black president in South Africa and continued to fight for the people in his country.

He died at his home in Johannesburg on 5 December 2013, because respiratory problems.

Nelson Mandela was the icon in favor of his people and against the social inequality and he´s an inspiration for every person in the world.

  1. That's nice. Now I know why people call him Madiba... it's, actually, his name... I thought it meant something else.
